Vintage Design
The armchair, Model 31 / 42 (Small Paimio) was designed by Alvar Aalto in the 1930’s. The example on offer is a very early version, sold by Wohnbedarf in the 1930’s.
The Wohnbedarf version could be fitted with a seat cushion on request, hence the two holes in the seat shell (all original). The armchair is an extremely rare example, which was covered with birch burl veneer. It has aged beautifully and has a great patina.
