Vintage Design
This is a fine quality walnut roll top desk from the Edwardian period. We have had a very similar desk in stock which stated on the lock that it was wholly made in Scotland. To the underside of this desk is chalked storage information that says JEDBURGH, so it’s likely of Scottish origins. Sympathetically fully restored without taking away it’s character it is now ready for the next 100 years. The interior is particularly attractive with satinwood faced drawer fronts and an antique green tooled leather writing surface. The lock is working and with the original key. All the base drawers are oak lined with the original nickel plated brass pull handles. The fielded (bevelled) external panels are polished to all sides which allows you to use it off the wall. The etched nickel escutcheon reads RJCB June 1907 and some of the internal drawer labels suggest a religious former owner. A very fine piece of exceptional writing furniture which breaks into three main parts and will go through almost any doorway.
