Vintage Design
A small collection of units from the iconic Royal System modular shelving series originally designed by Poul Cadovius in 1948 and manufactured by his own company. This pioneering shelf system won the gold medal at the Finland Furniture Fair in 1950 and silver medal in Milan in 1957.
Finished in teak with afromosia details, brass handles and black steel shelf supports. This is an early iteration of the system: the wall rails have rounded ends and the holes are lined with metal bushes. The sliding-door cabinet has slightly concave half-moon handles made of solid brass. The original handle of the drop-down cabinet has been replaced at some point with a brass D-shape handle.
This set includes 2 x 182cm wall rails; 1 x 137.5cm wall rail; 1 drop-down door ‘cocktail’ cabinet 43h x 37.5d with bottle rack and 2 tray drawers; 1 x sliding door cabinet with partitioned storage for vinyl LPs 43h x 37.5d; 1 x shelf 37.5d; 2 x shelf 24d. All units 80cm wide.
